Community Governance Project and Masters Thesis completed in the foothills of the Himalayas
Determined to apply her Masters of Indigenous Governance to communities seeking economic, social and cultural revitalization, Shobha moved to an isolated community in the foothills of the Himalayas. Observing the strength of indigenous knowledge in Ladakh, Shobha worked with educators, the community, and youth alike, to promote communal ownership and cultural integrity amidst modernity and globalization.

Over 10 years of Rural Development Experience in Kenya and India
As Country Director of Free the Children and Me to We in India, Shobha trained in Kenya, Africa, before establishing herself in Rajasthan, India. For close to a decade, she maneuvered through a densely populated and hostile landscape steeped in highly politicized tradition. Forced to constantly renew her perspective, she challenged local standards of rural development to acknowledge the socio-economic and cultural discrimination of indigenous populations. Through grass root empowerment and social awareness, she worked to promote and implement sustainable change.
